Olusola Olaniyi, an Advisory Council Member, International Women in Mining (IWiM) is a diligent Researcher, Regional and Exploration Geologist. She is the CEO of Berillos Proconsultants (Geology/Mining Research Consultants). A person of high integrity having excelled in the mining industry for over three decades, working in senior/upper management and directorate positions. She is a former Deputy Director Regional Geology and Liaison Officer, Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA), a Research Agency of Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development (now Ministry of Solid Mineral Development) where she was actively involved in the general office management, geological data collections, production of maps and geological reports for the Agency’s Publications. She also worked in Niger River Basin Development Authority where she gathered and analysed data for irrigation dams and in UNICEF Rural Water and Sanitation Project where she carried out geological and geophysical investigations for borehole constructions targeted at women and children in rural communities in Kwara State, Nigeria. She holds two Masters degrees in Geographic Information System (MGIS) and Business Administration (MBA) with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Geology, Certificates in Gender and Mining Governance, and The InterGovernmental Forum (IGF) on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development Guidance for Governments: Local content policies. She was a Delegate to the World Bank, Business Unusual: What Future for Artisanal and Small-scale Mining (ASM) Post Covid-19? International Conference December 6-7th, 2022 and the Association for Women in Energy and Extractives in Kenya (AWEIK) Gems Africa Conference and Exhibition in Nairobi, Kenya where she made some important inputs to ASM development. She is a Speaker and Presenter, she was a Speaker at WIMIN, AGJEC Lagos Gold and Gemstones Conference and Exhibition, 26-28th September, 2023. Olusola is an Ambassador, Delve Exchange Anglophone Africa Forum, member of Women In Mining Nigeria (WIMIN) and Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS), and Certified member Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG). A former Volunteer, Junior Achievement Trainer of Children in business development, former Mentor, FATE Foundation on entrepreneurial and business development in mineral resources, Matron and former Chairperson Board of Trustees Camp Of A Lifetime (COAL); retreat and capacity training for teenagers and youths’ development. She has a keen interest in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) in work place. She is also a strong advocate for improved welfare and empowerment for all, most especially for women, young adults and children.
