Nicolas Andres Eslava

Bio

Nicolas Andres Eslava is the director of Afai Consulting BV (www.afaiconsulting.com) a founder and advisor to Fundación Ava Jeva Amazonia (www.avajeva.org – under construction) and an associate with the globally operating consultancy twentyfifty (www.twentyfifty.co.uk). Nicolas has worked for a variety of international donors as well as mining and trading companies, minerals and metals users, and investors and insurers. This work has included mineral supply chain mappings and characterisations, in particular for artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) production; OECD Guidance and IFC Performance Standards value chains and mine sites evaluations; evaluations of mineral sourcing strategies for downstream companies; design of ASM formalisation and integration strategies; Mining Code and Policy evaluations and revisions; training of stakeholders in human rights due diligence. Nicolas holds an MSc in Security Studies from University College London and a BA in Political Science from the University of Lausanne with a focus on Political and Development Economics undertaken at the Copenhagen Business School and Copenhagen University. He speaks fluent English, French and Spanish and brings with him a thorough understanding of quantitative and qualitative methodologies, as well as GIS approaches.
