Luis is the specialist of ASGM in the National Program of Chemical Substances -MAAE-UNDP-, Luis is a chemical engineer with mention in Extractive metallurgy. Also, Luis is finishing his master degree related to metallurgy. One of the objectives that he want to reach is reduce the use of Hg in the ASGM activities in Ecuador trough the program. He is responsible to guide and support the management of government and private sectors involved in reducing the use of mercury in ASGM, including mercury-free methods, to support the design of social awareness programs for the elimination of the use of mercury and proposals for the generation of financial incentives and industrial alternatives. Luis has experience to working with ASGM sector. He was responsible to advise on the implementation of the metallurgical laboratory, develop training for miners on issues of improvement of recovery processes, to developing alternatives for more efficient recovery processes and designing flow diagrams of metallurgical processes in the project “Improvement of Working Conditions of Small Mining and Artisanal Mining". Also, Luis have participated in international projects like TRANSMAPE, that it was coordinated by CIRDI institute.
