Christopher is a technical expert with sound experience in artisanal and small-scale mining and processing, sampling and geochemical analyses, environmental impact of mining, occupational health and safety, GIS data processing / management, and capacity building.
He graduated in mineralogy (M.Sc.) at the University of Tuebingen (Germany). Christopher carried out diverse resource drilling and mapping projects in remote areas of Indonesia (Au), Saudi Arabia (water wells), Australia (Cu-Zn-Pb), and Europe (barite-fluorite). At Projekt-Consult, his consulting activities focus on international development projects in the field of responsible mining and mineral extraction in particular in Africa and Asia. His duties comprise the geological-technical consulting of ASM operations as well as advisory services for governmental authorities and civil society organizations regarding to sustainable and development-orientated mining practices.
He was involved in auditing ASM operations extracting 3T minerals and gold in DR Congo. He worked with ASM companies and cooperative in DR Congo (3T), Rwanda (3T), Mauritania (Au), and Indonesia (Au). In 2018, he was panellist in the session “Making it Home in One Piece: Occupational Health and Safety in Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining” at the ASM18 conference in Zambia.
